Music at the Villa: Second Wind
Joel Venditti started playing guitar in 1977, earliest influences started with some Beatles and mid 70’s blues rock, like Allman Brothers, Mountain, Johnny Winter. It wasn’t until getting introduced to acoustic “campfire folk” like Rolling Stones, Flying Burrito Brothers, Grateful Dead, and many more until he started singing and trying out original compositions.
Joel thinks of himself as mainly a lead player, backup singer, occasional lead singing, writing and exploring multiple genres, from old country music to Frank Zappa. Joel started playing in the NRV and Roanoke areas around the early 2000s until moving to Fernandina Beach FL and living and performing there starting in 2013. Joel recently left Florida and moved back to Floyd a few years ago and says he’s really happy to be back here and playing in this unique and wonderful place he gets to call home !
Bob Grubel has been writing and performing music since his early years. Dipping into rock, blues, new age, soft jazz and standards Bob brings to life simple passions and reflections on how we live in this world with his gutsy baritone and funky/smooth piano leading the way. Bob has played in a variety of venues over the years. Bob has also released 13 cd’s since the late 1980’s, several of which are performing very well online. Bob has lived in Floyd since 1980. He has 2 daughters and shares his home with his beautiful partner Sandy Jahmi Burg.
Currently the two have merged their talents in 2nd Wind with occasional special guests to bring their love of song to the local Floyd music scene. Combining their original material with covers from past musical eras has given them the opportunity to share a somewhat unique duo experience.
