We started in 2001 with 3 different varieties of olive trees, three of each, with the hope of duplicating the success at Monticello in Virginia. Cropping appears possible assuming the trees are brought into a greenhouse each cold season. All 9 trees have wintered well (inside our heated deck) and we actually expect a little fruit this year. However, as a backup, we have purchsed a small olive grove and villa in Tuscany, near Lucca. More of this later as the villa will be available for rent in the Spring, Summer and Fall of 2005. We will have an even better ALL THINGS OLIVE event this October. Last year we had 8 different imported olives and as many oils. Please check the EVENTS link this Summer for more details.
